So what's it all about?
Layne Vossimer (AJ Buckley) inherits his cousins’ (Stephen Baldwin)
farm and, with a group of friends, goes out there to fix it up and place
it on the market. While cleaning up the attic, Layne discovers drawings of
aliens, mysterious artefacts and videos of his cousin talking about
strange happenings. After one of Layne’s friends disappears it becomes
apparent they are not alone and that an alien invasion is imminent.
Is it any good?
Two things really irk me about this film. Firstly Stephen Baldwin is
billed as the lead actor, but only features in the first five minutes of
the movie. Secondly it’s almost a carbon copy of Mel Gibson’s “Signs”,
except they’ve substituted Gibson with a bunch of attractive teenagers and
bits of nudity.
Nevertheless the film is tense at times in the sense you know there’s
something out there and can’t wait to see it. There are some fairly
exciting chase scenes in the cornfields. Unfortunately you have to wait
about 50 minutes before you see the Aliens, and the make-up and special
effects are pretty standard made-for-TV stuff.
It’s worth watching if you enjoy Sci-Fi and alien invasion films, but
not if you’ve already seen Signs.
Score: 2/5
How about those special features?
There’s not really much worth seeing here. Features include a boring,
alien gallery of the animation models used, some posters, a film trailer
and subtitles.
